Welcome to our new "half snail" fossil page! |
Half snails are split and polished fossilized snails which are found in matrix, usually marble or other sedimentary rocks. Generally speaking, the whole snail wasn't able to be removed so the stone grinder, merely polishes and shapes (usually in a domed, cabachoned shape) the snail; and the backs are generally flat and un-polished. These are a very economical way to get into fossil collecting. We have 33 of this item for your viewing/purchasing pleasure. The first 5 are 2 inches; and flat polished. The next 16 are up to 2 1/2 inches in diameter; and the last 12 are 3 inches. Pricing ranges from $2.50 to $7.50 each plus shipping.
